Our Approach

We are wildlife lovers and we love Mull.

Our aim is that after every Break we deliver, you leave the island loving Mull as much as we do. (That’s lots by the way!)

Whilst building our Breaks, we wanted an inclusive balance to suit everyone; from those that already have a passion and knowledge of the great outdoors to those who might be first-time wildlife holiday goers.

We welcome all sorts into our van, from wildlife specialists to anyone who would like an introductory tour to Mull, Iona & the Treshnish Group.

People learn from people, and people learn from Nature. We believe that Nature is an unparalleled medium for conversations of all sorts. We will never be offended if you ask us difficult or uncomfortable questions; we will never baulk from trying to give you an honest answer. Whilst wildlife is always at the core of our ethos, connecting people with nature is key. We ultimately want to provide you with a thoroughly relaxing, restorative, and in some cases healing holiday.

Our Story

In 2020, Steve Blazye founded the concept of an all-inclusive Wildlife Break package; that would go on to include a complimentary sea safari, accommodation, and tailored meals. The concept only came to fruition in time for the 2021 season, as the tourism world ground to a halt during the Covid 19 pandemic. It was, in a way, a blessing in disguise as it made him able to find a guide in Laura.

In April 2021, we delivered our first Break with Laura as guide, as well as with Angela, Steve’s wife, in charge of the catering.

The 2025 season saw big changes, with Stevens, Laura’s fiancé, joining the team to take over the catering as the Blazyes had moved off island to be closer to their families, and Laura set to inherit the business.

That brings us to today, now preparing for the 2026 season, and we’re very excited.

In all endeavours, there are always some minor struggles and unexpected events but overall, our first five years have been fantastic. We have built some very special memories and welcomed so many wonderful guests along the way. We cannot wait to meet you all, and be your guide to discover this amazing island.

So far, our adventure has humbled us with some recognition we didn’t expect but could not be more proud of:

  • “Wildlife Tour Specialist” of the Year – LTG Global Awards 2022/23
  • “Best Wildlife Tour Operator” of the Year, Scotland Category – LTG Global Awards 2023/24
  • “Best Wildlife Tour Operator of the Year” – LTG Global Awards 2024/25
  • Tripadvisor Travellers’ Choice Awards 2025 TM – Top 10% Worldwide

Meet the Team

Laura

Head Wildlife Guide, Outdoor Educator & Naturalist

As Laura always says “guiding is the only thing I know”. Take that with a pinch of salt; after her studies in Edinburgh specialising in Outdoor, Environmental & Sustainability Education, she began her guiding career immediately. Initially for a conservation project in the Middle East responsible for reintroducing captive bred oryx back into the Liwa Desert. An experience that then allowed her to dovetail into the safari industry; initially working in Congo as a gorilla trekking guide, and subsequently guiding in Tanzania, South Africa and Malawi. Following lockdown Laura wanted to be closer to her family and began wondering if the Safari format could be applied in her very own Scotland. Mull was an obvious choice, as a well known playground for Eurasian otters and the most successful home to the reintroduced white-tailed sea eagles. In her student days Laura had spent a lot of time on Mull and already knew the island intimately and she loves guiding on the island that she is now proud to call home.

Stevens

Caterer, Administrator & Relief Wildlife Guide

“And how did you end up on Mull?” is a question that comes quite often to this Frenchman’s ear.  Scotland has always attracted Stevens, and in 2020 he finally had the courage to make the move from his city of birth, Nantes. Lockdown posed its challenges, but an unusual ancestral coincidence made Mull a lucky step that he intended to entertain only for a summer. However, he fell in love with Mull, and then he fell in love with Laura.

With more than 15 years of experience in hospitality in various positions; Stevens is in charge of the essential work in the background that makes our Breaks so special, he also takes care of catering for our guests’ lunches. Everything he can make himself, he does, as well as sourcing as many ingredients locally wherever possible. He is a keen birder, and also holds degrees in History of Art and Archaeology, which helped him acquire a knowledge of Mull that is not always put in the spotlight.

Sula

Chief Cuddler

Sula is our dog and she loves birds. A bit too much actually, so you won’t see her in the field with you. She has the most important role as the chief cuddler of the team. Bringing a bit of peace into our lives. As much as we love what we do with Mull Wildlife Breaks, it is important to know how to disconnect. This hyperactive weasel helps us do just that.
